Far too soon after their wedding, the call of war had separated Jerry and Marjie Macmillan and plunged them into the most difficult challenge of their lives. Jerry's dramatic survival during the sinking of his aircraft carrier and his reunion with Marjie and their new daughter signalled their new beginning.
But while the Macmillan family has much to celebrate in Jerry's safe return to a hero's welcome, they must faced the reality of his imminent return to the navy. With Jerry's father's health continuing to deteriorate and winter setting in, something must be done to keep the farm going if Jerry is not given a special discharge. Must it be sold as his father has concluded? And where will Marjie and the baby go?
Difficulties on the home front and orders to return to service are pressing in on them when near-tragedy strikes the Macmillan farm. Jerry and Marjie are faced with the potential of an ever greater disaster. Will their newly found faith be strong enough to carry them through?
